Abstract
This research study mainly aims to find the best method in breeding mosquitoes in laboratory and compared alternative blood feeding strategy using artificial membrane feeding which is given by human blood and three other anticoagulants. A probabilistic modeling of the pre-adult mosquito's growth based on each strategy was compared and discussed using the statistical model classifying the mosquitoes into their life phases; eggs, larvae, pupae, and mosquito, then computing the transition probability and survival probability in each phase at any time. The result shows that Positive Control and Heparin gave the highest probability to transform from eggs to larvae in about third day, with probability between 0.3 to 0.36 and from larvae to pupae in about sixth day, with probability between 0.25 to 0.3. While the others anticoagulants took a longer day to transform in each phase. Therefore, Heparin is the best alternative anticoagulant for mosquito's blood feeding.
