According to the demands of actual mine production and environment monitoring, this paper proposes a networking scheme that combines optical fibre transmission and wireless sensor monitoring networks. In accordance with the special arrangement of structures of sensor nodes in an underground mine tunnel and the requirement of the longer life cycle of wireless sensor monitoring network, strategy for cluster head rotation in the hierarchical clustered wireless sensor network is provided. On the basis of the low energy adaptive clustering hierarchy (LEACH) protocol, we present the routing protocol LEACH
, which is more suitable for monitoring the environment in a hierarchical clustered wireless sensor network. Simulation experiments are implemented using the MATLAB simulation tool, and communication experiments are carried out by the experimental system of the CROSSBOW WSN Professional Kit. The simulation and experimental results show that the scheme of WSN monitoring network for mine environment meets the requirements of mine production and environmental monitoring. Cluster head rotation strategy avoids the probability of early death of cluster head nodes due to heavy energy consumption of data forwarding tasks, and effectively prolongs the life cycle of wireless sensor monitoring network. LEACH
is superior to LEACH in terms of network lifecycle, energy consumption and scalability.
