Abstract
A stator can sleeve and a rotor can sleeve are the particular structure of the canned induction motor (CIM), and the material of the can sleeve has an important influence on the performance of the CIM. However, the can sleeve made of a single existing material cannot guarantee that the CIM has both good efficiency and large power factor. Therefore, in this study, a can sleeve made of a laminated stainless steel composite is proposed to improve the comprehensive performance of the CIM. A 4.2 kW CIM was used as the research object. The influence of the composite layer in the can sleeves on the electromagnetic field and performance of the CIM is studied, and the mechanism of improving the comprehensive performance of the motor is obtained. The research results can provide reference for selecting the can sleeve materials in the CIM design.
