Abstract
This paper deals with the frequency response characteristics of a magnetically controlled shape memory alloy (MSMA) linear actuator made by NiMnGa alloy under external magnetic field. In order to predict the strain actuation of the linear actuator induced by external magnetic field at variable drive frequency, a new computational analysis method using finite element method (FEM) was proposed. The frequency response characteristics of the prototype linear actuator exhibited good agreement with the result of the proposed analysis method.
