Abstract
In this paper, the transient short-circuit current of three-phase saturated core high temperature superconducting (HTS) fault current limiter(FCL) is investigated by using a method of combining 3-Dimensional (3D) finite element analysis (FEA) and equivalent dynamic nonlinear circuit model. The numerical computations are verified by the experiment results on a FCL prototype with rated voltage 380V. Based on the short-circuit current of three-phase saturated core HTS FCL with rated voltage 220 kV, the three-phase transient magnetic field is simulated and analyzed. According to the simulation results, the transient short-circuit electromagnetic forces distribution is obtained.
