Abstract
This paper describes an attempt of building an intelligent home energy management algorithm which can react adequately to the resents' life style with a life event sensor in a home. The life event sensor is an activity recognition sensor both for measuring electric power consumption and detecting uses of electronic devices by utilizing high frequency current waveform as a signature of each device. For discussing feasibility of the sensor and the algorithm, a long term filed data collecting system has been implemented and installed in two occupied houses for a year. The system consists of three sub-systems and collects the structured knowledge in different granularity required for designing the sensor and the algorithm continually. The overview of the system and discussion about feasibility for the life event sensor and the energy management algorithm on the life events are described in the paper.
