Abstract
This paper reviews the history of China's economic development and discusses the main problems caused by inappropriate economic plans. In order to improve China's capacity for making more reasonable economic plans, planning support systems are essential. The main tasks of developing and utilizing planning support systems for national economic planning are discussed and strategies for the implementation are suggested.
