Erythrocyte deformability as measured with a newly developed nickel mesh

Abstract

To improve the reproducibility of filtration method for determination of erythrocyte deformability, a newly developed nickel mesh was examined by scanning electron microscopy. Nickel mesh provides a more accurate geometry and higher reproducibility than does polycarbonate filter. This study suggests that nickel mesh can be useful in laboratory and clinical investigations of the erythrocyte deformability.
