Abstract
Simulated freshwater model ponds have been used as ideal natural laboratories for the comparative assessment of physicochemical and biological parameters. The study was conducted simultaneously at two places, one in Northern India (Delhi) and the other in Eastern India (West Bengal) carrying similar trophic structure and eutrophication dose during non-monsoon season (October 2003 to March 2004). The study emphasizes the local and regional climatic influence on plankton's species composition, diversity and density variation in freshwater pond ecosystem along with dispersal and grazing pressure.
