Abstract
Emotions are a core influence on our health and well-being, and are considered a crucial element for Ambient Intelligence. This book provides readers with a broad overview of the areas that should be familiar to anyone who wants to work on emotion-oriented computing. In eight parts, the foundations of such systems are presented, including theories and models, affective signal processing, databases, embodied conversational agents and emotion synthesis, persuasion, communication, designing user centric closed-loops, and ethical issues. All in all, this book provides a comprehensive overview of the field and is a very useful introduction for those new to affective computing.
