Abstract
The reaction of 2-(3-oxoisobenzofuran-1(3H)-ylidene)malononitrile, generated from phthalic anhydride and malononitrile, with different binucleophiles led to the formation of spiro heterocycles possessing a phthalide ring system in good yields.
