Abstract
A novel turn-on fluorescent probe containing a benzothiazole fluorophore has been synthesised and its structure confirmed by single crystal X-ray diffraction. The probe exhibited high selectivity to Zn2+ over other metal ions and demonstrated high sensitivity for Zn2+ with a 12-fold fluorescence enhancement. It also showed a fast response to Zn2+ and a complexation ratio towards Zn2+ of 1:1.
