Abstract
Summary
Studies on the amino acid requirements for the activation of latent infection with psittacosis virus of chick embryo tissues cultivated in vitro revealed that phe-nylalanine and tryptophane are essential to the proliferation of psittacosis virus, while aspartic acid, hydroxyproline, and lysine are not. The importance of host cell metabolism to viral infection is discussed with special reference to the amino acids.
