Abstract
Summary
An explanation of the reactivity of some sulfhydryl compounds with Bennett's reagent and the lack of reactivity of others is not readily apparent.∗ It is possible that those sulfhydryl compounds which do not give precipitates with Bennett's reagent form mercaptides which are soluble in the amyl acetate phase. It is obvious, however, that analytical results obtained by the method of Flesch and Kun must be interpreted with great caution.
