Abstract
Summary
The oral and parenteral administration of the sodium salt of para-amino-benzoic acid to gerbilles (Gerbillus gerbillus and Gerbillus pyramidum) experimentally infected with R. orientalis reduced the mortality. The results of these preliminary experiments indicate that this compound may have beneficial therapeutic action in the treatment of tsutsugamushi (scrub typhus) infection.
