It has been demonstrated with the use of a functionally hepatectomized preparation and in the presence of a lipoprotein lipase inhibitor, Triton WR 1339, that, in the chicken, long chain fatty acids are absorbed in the form of triglycerides as the major component of a lipoprotein of density less than 1.006.
