Abstract
Summary
Arthritis could be induced in rats by the oral and subcutaneous administration of 6-sulfanilamidoindazole (6-SAI). M. arthritidis could be occasionally isolated from involved joints, but the results obtained from tetracycline therapy, histopathology, and serologic studies, in comparison with mycoplasma-induced arthritis, indicated that these organisms were not the etiologic agent of the disease. It was concluded that mycoplasma could appear in 6-SAI arthritis as secondary invaders.
