Abstract
Summary
On the basis of preliminary observations, it appears that plasma lipoproteins may be partially separated into four groups by chromatography on columns of 2% agarose gel: “chylomicrons”endogenous VLD; LD; and HD. Reproducibility and recovery of lipid components are satisfactory. The four groups are not clearly separated on the basis of molecular size, the spectrum of particles being continuous but with peaks of concentration corresponding to the four groups. There is overlap with plasma proteins containing little or no lipid, especially in the HD area.
