Abstract
Summary and conclusions
1. In ambulatory patients with suspected or proved but untreated endocrinopathies including newly-diagnosed but untreated diabetes mellitus urinary pressor activity as measured by an aortic strip assay is about one-half again as great as that recorded in comparable age controls. 2. Therapy of diabetes mellitus with either insulin or tolbutamide is associated with increased urinary pressor activity which is some two-fold higher than that observed in control subjects. 3. Neither age nor the presence or absence of obesity appeared to be related to the level of pressor activity in the urine in any of the groups studied.
