Abstract
Summary
1. The blood-brain barrier of normal rabbits was altered by the use of E. coli endotoxin, by X-irradiation (whole body or head alone) and by inducing experimental allergic encephalomyelitis. 2. All animals so treated were hypersusceptible to venom. 3. It is concluded that endotoxin induced hyper-susceptibility to some snake venoms possibly results from alteration of the so-called blood-brain barrier.
