Abstract
The Australasian Society for HIV Medicine is a medical society established in late 1989 in order to respond appropriately to HIV/AIDS related issues and to provide support to those involved with what was, at the time, a new disease. Since that time the Society has grown exponentially and now numbers over 800 members, including general medical practitioners, specialists, scientists and other health professionals involved in HIV medicine and care.
