Abstract
It is suggested that the standard traditional null hypothesis of ρ2 = 0 be reconsidered in favor of ρ2 = E(R2). The test of the latter hypothesis is discussed. Also discussed is an effect-size index that is the difference between an adjusted R2 and E(R2).
