Abstract
The study tests the effects of a combined information and video role model intervention designed to reduce inequalities at the transition from high school to university in Denmark. The intervention led to a significant increase in expectations of attending university and applications to university among students from non-university family backgrounds, and treatment effects were particularly pronounced among students with the lowest educational family background and above-average grades. We conclude that providing students with relevant information about postsecondary schooling alternatives while also addressing their potential social and psychological barriers may be a promising avenue to reduce educational inequalities.
