Abstract
The post-World War II history of sexuality education programs for people with cognitive disabilities in Austria reveals limited success. To determine the state of current knowledge and attitudes on this topic in Austria, several survey studies were planned and conducted. Following this activity, and based on some of the findings, Lebenshilfe Salzburg initiated a program of sexuality education for adults with cognitive disabilities, their parents, and professionals. The surveys that were conducted are summarized in this article and the sexuality education program involving parents, professionals, and adults with disabilities is described.
