Abstract
The current study examined sport spectators' perceptions of the enjoyment of a spectating environment. Spectators (N=177) attending a college men's basketball game in either an old or a new arena were asked to list the variables related to their enjoyment of attending the sporting event. Analysis indicated that the game-competition, social nature of the event, and exciting plays were the most frequently listed reasons. Fans attending games at the two arenas were not differentially likely to report the arena or atmosphere as contributing to their enjoyment.
