The paper presents a survey of a sample of 41 students with master's degrees in mathematics about the difficulty and types of strategies used to study technical material, including mathematical proofs. In addition, students were asked to rate the frequency of use of several heuristics strategies in problem solving in the fields of Linear Algebra, Geometry, Differential Calculus, and Statistics.
