With a Poggendorff configuration one sees two obliques as being misaligned, and with a Judd configuration one sees them as having different tilts, i.e., as being misoriented. It has been suggested that these are separate illusory effects. I submit, however, that one can see misorientation in the double Poggendorff and misalignment with a Judd-like configuration. It seems likely that both perceptual effects are manifestations of the same process.
