Modification of Friedman's developmental level scoring (DL) for Rorschach area components by Exner within the Comprehensive System to derive a new code, Developmental Quality (DQ), raises the question of whether the two have the same meaning. Recent research indicated significant differences. Here Rorschach area components for 20 men addicted to alcohol gave an r of .32 which suggests the shared meaning between these methods is too low to support identical inferences.
