Abstract
For business students, factors (favorability ratings) for a professor and his dean who, in a scenario, rejected the professor's application for promotion, were indicated by factor analysis of 7-point ratings of 16 bipolar items. Actors were viewed more favorably when they agreed than were they disagreed. Sex of actor did not affect favorability, but the dean's disagreeing was judged more masculine than his agreeing. Findings seem consistent with research showing production-oriented leaders were viewed as more masculine.
