Abstract
This report contains results from a study conducted at the Idaho National Engineering Laboratory where 18 certified plant operators rated each of three safety parameter display formats against a 155-item MDRS representing six cognitive dimensions. Each of the displays contained information regarding the status of nine distinct plant parameters which fluctuated as a function of plant conditions. The displays were integral with a plant simulator, and operators observed the displays perform dynamically. Preliminary findings suggest that, while all dimensions were internally consistent as measured by Cronbach's alpha, that only two, content integration and cognitive processing, discriminated among formats.
