Abstract
Of 32 subjects (16 boys, 16 girls, half of each sex from Grades 5 and 6), 16 had intensive drill in directional strokes used as components in block lettering, with a step-by-step demonstration from a teacher after verbal instruction. The trained group earned significantly higher scores than those given verbal instruction only. Eight weeks later scores on a second poster correlated .80, showing stable performance.
