Abstract
Self-reported likelihood of committing nine deviant acts were analyzed for differences between men and women. Data gathered in a 1972 survey of the population aged 15 yr. and over in New Jersey, Iowa, and Oregon were used and are still considered representative. The sample of 1993 was selected by area probability techniques combined with random selection of respondents within each sampled household. One-hour interviews were conducted by professional interviewers representing National Analysts, Inc. Analysis shows that for each of the nine deviant acts more men indicate a propensity to deviate.
