An analysis of 1698 empirical articles published in the Journal of Counseling Psychology since 1954 was performed to provide an examination of the patterns of use of non-parametric statistical procedures. Analysis indicated that non-parametric procedures have not been as widely used as parametric procedures. It was also evident that the use of non-parametric procedures has steadily declined over time. The question of the appropriateness of the domination of parametric procedures emerges.
