Senegalese adolescents, like many others, have a keen interest in travelling and adventure. However, where in Europe travelling is usually for pleasure's sake and appeals to youth's romantic imagination, it is for them a means of initiation into a better, fuller social life within their society at large. Only a minority (15%) rejected the idea of travelling, but also, paradoxically, for the reason of social integration.
