Piedmont's cognitive interpretation of hypnosis, based on the control of dermal temperature in a biodfeedback situation, is questioned on the basis of no statistically significant changes in the hypnotized group's temperatures and none between the temperatures of the hypnotized and control groups. A relaxation interpretation of hypnosis seems equally tenable.
