Comparison of the somatotypes of male and female international orienteers showed a marked similarity between sexes. A comparison of international orienteers with other international athletes in terms of somatotype and size indicated that male orienteers were very similar to 800/1500-metre men runners and the female orienteers to 400/800-metre women runners.
