A newly devised tachistoscopic test of disembedding ability was checked in two experiments for internal reliability and validity in comparison with a standard test of visual disembedding. The results of the two experiments (ns = 16) showed that performance on die standard test is significantly related to its tachistoscopic version, although the latter involves a component of visual alertness.
