Figure-Background Perception and Cerebral Dominance: Hypothesized Integrated Process of Hemispheric Specialization

Abstract

The hypothesis was that the two hemispheres have different functions in normal vision, the dominant one analyzes the “figure” and the non-dominant the “background.” The investigation examined responses of 41 female psychology students. Our results are consistent with the hypothesis.
