Abstract
The present study examined the presence of arm-leg opposition within three tasks, running, leaping, and over-arm throwing. The study examined consistency of arm-leg opposition and transfer of developed arm-leg opposition to a novel task. Participants were 47 4-yr.-old and 49 8-yr.-old children. Subjects individually performed each task while a trained observer recorded the subject's use of arm-leg opposition. The results were inconclusive at both ages. Eight-yr.-old children were highly consistent; however, the nature of consistency was not determined. Four-yr.-old children appeared not to use previously developed arm-leg opposition in performing the three tasks.
