44 undergraduates made subjective comparisons of pairs of contiguous, arithmetically equal intervals between numbers using a modification of the method of triads. Multiples of 10 from 10 to 100, inclusive, were used to construct the triads. For every triad but one, the interval between the larger integers was more frequently judged smaller. Results were in accord with those of earlier studies suggesting that subjective number is a negatively accelerating function of its arithmetic counterpart.
