Abstract
From four groups of Ss same- and opposite-sex evaluations of how negative grooming cues (breath odour; sweat odour; dirty fingernails; dandruff) are weighted in forming unfavourable impressions were obtained. Both sexes used these cues in a similar way when evaluating the opposite sex but quite differently when evaluating their own sex.
