Abstract
The Bender-Gestalt test, Vane Kindergarten test, and Peabody Picture Vocabulary Test were administered to 60 middle-class and 60 lower-class male and female Caucasian children attending kindergarten, first and second grades of a public school system. Results of the comparative study confirm that perceptual and linguistic differences exist between middle-class and lower-class children, favoring middle-class children, and lend support to the usefulness of the Vane Kindergarten Test as a screening test for screening the intellectual-academic potential of young children.
