Abstract
The relationship between scale values of magnitude obtained from category and successive-intervals scaling procedures is expected to be nonlinear in many cases. The present research presented the hypothesis that the relationship will be linear if discriminal dispersions are constant and specifiably concave if these dispersions systematically increase or decrease with magnitude. The present data represented the case of constant discriminal dispersions and the prediction for this condition was supported.
