2 groups of 10 male Ss were tested on two versions of a 6-element vibrotactile code. Code A combined two intensities of signal with three durations. For Code B the ratio of intensities to durations was reversed. In terms of total errors there was no significant difference between the groups. However, there were significant differences in error patterns. It is suggested that perceptually easier coding might be achieved by extending the range of intervals along the duration dimension.
