Abstract
Changes in direction and amplitude of starting position combinations were used to inspect whether reproduction errors of a positioning response were related to these displacements. Two groups of Ss who had different recall instructions for reproducing a terminal location or replicating a distance moved were tested. Analysis of combinations of starting positions indicated that only the distance condition yielded significant changes in recall error. Some evidence was presented that both distance and location cues were systematically related to starting positions.
