Abstract
As a means of estimating the value of selected test items in assessing motor performance, 31 educable mentally retarded individuals were randomly selected to be tested on all items at one time and retested 7 days later. Test-retest reliability coefficients indicated that some items were inadequate due to low reliabilities while most could be considered to be adequate. Suggestions were made regarding allowing a greater number of trials for handgrip strength and fewer for the Standing Broad Jump. Factor analysis gave no loadings consistent with those reported in the literature. Significant learning occurred from one testing session to the next with three test items.
