Abstract
The purpose of this study was to determine whether gross differences between two groups of Ss on e' ratings of CVCs would affect trials to criterion of the serial learning of CVCs composed of high and low m' values. Means and variances of the two groups of Ss did not differ significantly. Differences in rates of learning of high and low m' CVCs are attributed to the linguistic properties of the stimuli. It is hypothesized that the linguistic properties of our three categories result in sequences of processes of verbal learning.
