As an extension of an earlier study (Brandt & Fenz, 1969), the hypothesis that physiological specificity should be related to the specificity in subjective reports of symptoms, was tested in comparisons between a control population and 34 psychoneurotic Ss. There was some indication of physiological specificity in both groups; consistent differences between groups were found on a number of measures but were most pronounced for measures of muscle tension.
