A survey of 41 hemiplegics in a Rehabilitation Service showed only one case of frank mirror writing by a right-handed patient with right hemiplegia. This proportion is considerably lower than others reported in the literature. The one patient was also dyslexic, which supports Critchley's original hypothesis concerning the pathogenesis of mirror writing.
