The number of 0.1-sec. (or longer) time units in which activity of an animal makes any electrical contact can be registered in pulses from a completely solid-state circuit with a built-in time cycler. On white rats, measures obtained, when compared with time-sampling observations, confirm previous findings supporting a concept of general activity.
